Brief History

The origin, growth and development of the Delta State University Library is from the defunct College of Education, Abraka, Delta State. The College, established in February 1969, metamorphosed into the Abraka Campus of the defunct Bendel State University, in 1985. The defunct Bendel State was split into Edo and Delta States on the 29th of August, 1991. On the 30th of April, 1992, the Abraka Campus of the defunct Bendel State University became the Delta State University, Abraka. The Library, being an integral part of the University, has been growing along with it. In fact, it has grown and developed to become what it is today, serving 12 Faculties. Under the leadership of Prof. Stephen O. Uwaifo, the Delta State University Library, which was domiciled in Site 2 of the University, relocated to the Ultra-Modern Mega Library building which is its permanent location in Site 3 in March, 2022. The Library has several branch libraries all working in tandem to provide unrestricted access to information resources and services in Oleh, Warri and Oghara
